Cardinals Win 3/4 Against St. Louis
The Mineral Area College baseball team recently took won their four-game series against St. Louis CC, winning three out of four games.
On Thursday, March 30, MAC settled for a split against the Archers, winning game one 6-1 before dropping game two 5-1. Ryker Walton earning the win on the mound in game one, throwing six innings and allowing one run while striking out seven. In game two, Ray Ochoa took the loss, throwing six innings and allowing two runs on seven hits.
Picking up hits for the Cardinals were Liam Bushey (1 hit, 2 RBI), Antoine Tremblay (2 hits, 1 RBI), Ruendrick Piternella (1 hit, 1 RBI), Diego Andino (2 hits, RBI), Karter Kekec, Alonzo Zuniga, and Clayton Redmond.
On Saturday, April 2, the Cardinals traveled to St. Louis to complete the four-game series. MAC was able to defeat the Archers in both games (5-2 and 10-6) to win the series. In game one, Grant Nicholson earned the win in relief, throwing three and two thirds innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Carter Rees threw a scoreless inning in the seventh to earn the save. Gavin Oswald threw six innings in game two and only allowed one run on three hits to earn the win. Carter Rees picked up his second save of the day following a scoreless frame in the ninth.
Leading the way offensively at St. Louis were Ruendrick Piternella (7 hits, 4 RBI), Justin Carinci (4 hits, RBI), Alonzo Zuniga (2 hits, 3 RBI), Liam Bushey (1 hit, 2 RBI), Austin Jerger (1 hit, 2 RBI), Karter Kekec (2 hits), Jack Dunn (2 hits), and Antoine Tremblay (1 hit).
With the series win against St. Louis, MAC improved to 20-11 overall, 7-5 in Region 16 play and 7-5 in MCCAC play. The Cardinals will be back in action on Monday, April 3 when they host Crowley's Ridge JV for a 1:00pm double-header.
