Cardinals Earn #1 Seed In Region 16 Tournament
PARK HILLS, Mo. — The Mineral Area College men's basketball team has earned the No. 1 seed in the NJCAA Region 16 Tournament and will host a semifinal matchup Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. inside Bob Sechrest Field House.
The Cardinals (18–11 overall, 8–4 in Region 16 play) will face the winner of the quarterfinal game between No. 4 seed Moberly Area Community College and No. 5 seed Missouri State University–West Plains.
Cardinals earn top seed
Mineral Area secured the tournament's top seed following a strong regular season highlighted by a perfect 12–0 record at home and key conference victories over several Region 16 opponents.
The Cardinals closed the regular season with an 18–11 overall mark and host Thursday's semifinal. The matchup will mark the Cardinals' fourth meeting of the season against either potential opponent. Mineral Area went 1-2 in the regular-season series against Moberly Area and s swept the season series against West Plains. With the No. 1 seed and home-court advantage secured, MAC enters the Region 16 Tournament seeking a championship and advancement into district play. The semifinal winner will advance to the Region 16 Championship game later game at the higher seed on Saturday, March 7.
