Season Preview: Men's Soccer
After a historic 2024 season that saw them surge onto the national stage and claim the program's first Region 16 title, the MAC soccer team enters the 2025 campaign ranked #15 in the NJCAA preseason poll. With momentum, talent, and ambition on their side, the Cardinals are poised to make a deep postseason run.
Strong Start & Heavy Early Tests
The Cardinals kicked off their season in emphatic fashion, earning a 6-3 road win over #17 Elgin Community College. The win put MAC at 1-0, and with a challenging August slate ahead, the early confidence boost is crucial.
Upcoming high-stakes matchups include:
- Aug. 23 @ Triton College
- Aug. 27 vs Southeastern CC
- Aug. 30 vs East Mississippi CC
September features a challenging back-to-back with the Cardinals traveling to Creve Coeur to take on RV Parkland College on September 5 before returning home to take on Meridian CC on September 6. This test could have a major impact on national rankings.
Region 16 Play
MAC's Region 16 schedule kicks off Sept. 13 vs East Central College and includes a tough stretch of matches against St. Charles CC, St. Louis CC, State Fair, and Metropolitan CC — all Region 16 title contenders.
A rivalry showdown vs STLCC on Sept. 20 will be particularly critical in determining postseason seeding.
Postseason
With a deep squad, national ranking, and a challenging schedule built to prepare them for the postseason, the Cardinals are eyeing a Region 16 title and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament. The Region 16 playoffs begin Oct. 25, with MAC hoping to host as the higher seed.
