Lady Cardinals Go 1-1 On Opening Weekend

The MAC women's soccer team opened the 2022 campaign with a win and a loss on opening weekend.  On Saturday, August 27, the Lady Cardinals fell to #17 Pearl River by a score of 4-1.  In Saturday's match, MAC struck first with a goal from Leah Buerck at 12:00.  Pearl River evened things up with a goal at 18:00 and the match remained tied going into halftime.  It was all Pearl River in the second half and the Cardinals fell by a score of 4-1.

The Lady Cardinals bounced back on Sunday, August 28 against Itawamba CC.  In Sunday's match, ICC took an early lead at 8:00 but MAC evened things up at 41:00 on a goal by Leah Buerck.  Following a goal by Kayleigh Slinkard at 63:00, ICC tied the match at two goals a piece with 20 minutes remaining.  The game went to overtime with Emma Winkler scoring the golden goal at 95:00 for the Cardinals. 

MAC moves to 1-1 after opening weekend.  The Lady Cardinals were originally set to visit East Central College on Wednesday, August 31 but that match has been postponed.  MAC will now be back in action on Friday, September 2 in Senatobia, MS against #5 ranked Holmes Community College.
