MAC Goes 4-0 In Burlington, IA

The MAC volleyball team traveled to Burlington, IA on Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3 to participate in the JJ's Tournament.

On Friday, the Lady Cardinals defeated Sauk Valley CC by a score 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-19).  Mariana de Carvalho and Nina Janjic led the way for MAC with 11 kills each.  Alandry Below collected 32 assists and Summer Meyer led the way defensively with 14 digs. 

In their second match, MAC took down Southwestern CC in straight sets (25-18, 25-14, 25-11).  Leaders for the Lady Cardinals included Below (30 assists), Meyer (16 digs), de Carvalho (9 kills) and Vitoria Campos Mello (2 solo blocks).

MAC took on host Southeastern CC to open play on Saturday.  The Lady Cardinals were able to defeat SCC  3-0.  Leading the way for MAC were de Carvalho (13 kills), Meyer (13 digs), Below (43 assists) and Agatha Emanuelle (1 solo block). 

In their fourth and final match of the tournament, MAC defeated Spoon River College, again in straight sets.  Campos Mello and de Carvalho lead the way offensively with 11 kills each.  Below led in assists with 42 and digs with 17.  Four different Lady Cardinals chipped in with four solo blocks.

In MAC's 4-0 weekend, the team did not lose a set and improved to 8-1 on the season.  The Lady Cardinals will return to action on Wednesday, September 7 in a Region 16 and MCCAC match at home vs Jefferson College.  Wednesday's match is set to being at 6:30pm.
