Cardinals Defeat East Central In Straight Sets

On September 11, 2024, the Mineral Area College Cardinals delivered a commanding performance against the East Central College Falcons in MAC's home opener at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse. The Cardinals swept the match 3-0, showcasing their strength and cohesion throughout the match.

From the first serve, it was clear that MAC was in control. The Cardinals started strong and maintained their momentum throughout the match. The final scores for each set were 25-13, 25-23, and 25-15, reflecting MAC's consistent play.

In the opening set, the Cardinals quickly established their superiority with a decisive 25-13 win. Their aggressive serves and solid defensive plays left East Central College struggling to keep up. The Cardinals' ability to transition smoothly from defense to offense was a key factor in their early success.

The second set presented a stiffer challenge, as East Central showed some resilience and pushed the Cardinals to a closer score of 25-23. Despite the Falcons' early lead, MAC came back to take the set headed into the third.

By the third set, the Cardinals had settled into their rhythm and efficiently closed out the match with a 25-15 victory. 

With the win over East Central, the Cardinals improved to 7-3 overall on the young season.  MAC returns to action on Saturday, September 14 at St. Louis Community College against Southwestern Illinois College.  Saturday's match is scheduled to start at noon.
