Men’s basketball team wins Region XVI Championship
(4/4/21) MAC defeated Moberly 66-56 last night at Mineral Area College to claim the Region XVI Tournament Championship. The Cardinals left no doubt this year who the best team in the region was, completing an undefeated regular season and a postseason sweep which included four wins over Moberly. Now, Mineral Area looks to test itself nationally starting with a District matchup with #18 Triton followed by the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. Undefeated MAC (22-0) is currently ranked 2nd in the NJCAA and will be a top seed in the national tournament.
Four Cardinals earned spots on the All-Region team. Sophomore's Kevin Stone, Terrion Murdix and Malevy Leons were selected as was freshman Keonte Jones. Leons was named Region 16 Player of the Year and Luke Strege was selected as Region XVI Coach of the Year. Coach Strege has amassed a sparkling overall record of 151-29 as head coach of the Cardinals.
