MAC wins thriller against Hutchinson
(4/21/21) Mineral Area defeated Hutchinson Community College yesterday in the second round of the NJCAA National Tournament by the score of 80-77. This marks the first ever victory at the national tournament for men's basketball. With the win, MAC advances to the national quarterfinal against Cowley County Community College out of Kansas Thursday at Noon.
The Cardinals (24-0), who are the #1 seed in the tournament, essentially were forced to play a road game playing Hutchinson on their home floor. Not only were the Blue Dragons playing in front of their home crowd, they showed that they belonged in the tournament by exhibiting great size, strength and energy in the loss. The top ranked Cardinals were just too much for them however led by the sensational Malevy Leons who had 21 points and 11 rebounds. Terrion Murdix continued his great play at point guard adding 16 points and 9 assists.
