MAC Gets Back-To-Back Wins

The MAC women's basketball team continued its early-season surge with two convincing victories, first overwhelming Wabash Valley College 86–58 on Nov. 25 at Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse, then traveling to Olney, Illinois, to defeat Olney Central College 82–63 on Nov. 29.

Mineral Area 86, Wabash Valley 58 — November 25, 2025

Mineral Area wasted no time setting the tone against Wabash Valley, erupting for a 22–5 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. The Cardinals controlled every facet of the game, shooting an impressive 52.7% from the field and 50% from three.

Clermont, Kemnitzer, and Reutzel fuel the offense

  • Lydia Kemnitzer led all scorers with 15 points, knocking down five threes (5-for-10) and spacing the floor beautifully.
  • Marceline Clermont added 13 points, 5 steals, and 4 assists, serving as the engine behind MAC's early offensive burst.
  • PJ Reutzel provided a major spark off the bench with 10 points on efficient 4-of-5 shooting, including two threes.

Around them, MAC showcased its hallmark depth. Ten different Cardinals scored, and five players finished with at least seven rebounds. The interior duo of Casey Teague (9 rebounds) and Alayna Lagemann (7 rebounds) helped the Cardinals control second-chance opportunities and secure defensive stops.

Defensively, MAC swarmed Wabash Valley, forcing 24 turnovers and allowing no player to reach double figures.

Mineral Area 82, Olney Central 63 — November 29, 2025

Just four days later, the Cardinals carried their momentum on the road and delivered again—this time with a balanced 82–63 victory over Olney Central.

After jumping out to a 23–14 first-quarter lead, MAC weathered a push from the Blue Knights in the second quarter before regaining control in the second half. Mineral Area outscored Olney Central 40–28 after halftime, pulling away behind teamwork, ball movement, and timely shooting.

Balanced scoring leads the way

Mineral Area once again showcased its depth, placing five players in double figures:

  • PJ Reutzel: 12 points (4-for-6 from three), providing key perimeter shots.
  • Casey Teague: 10 points and 6 rebounds, steady in the paint.
  • Mariah Dallas: 10 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
  • Lydia Kemnitzer: 10 points, including 3-for-5 from deep.
  • Marceline Clermont: 9 points and a team-high 9 assists, orchestrating the offense with poise.

MAC shot 55% from three (11-for-20), one of its best perimeter outings of the season, while the defense minimized foul trouble and held Olney Central to just 37.3% shooting.

With the wins, the Cardinals improved to 6-3 overall.  The team returns to action on Monday, December 1 when they travel to Lincoln Trail College for a 5:00pm tip.
